Kiental in the Bernese Oberland is close to Spiez at the beautiful Lake of Thoune and consists of mostly old typical wooden houses and gives you a beautiful view of the majestic Bluemlisalp (3663 meters). Kiental, meaning 'the valley of pines and rolling rocks', is a small village in one of the most untouched settings of the Swiss Alps, in a known hiking area in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. Its proximity to the impressive Blümlisalpmassif with its very ancient forests, crystal clear creeks and raging waterfalls invites restful walks.
Kiental is not considered as one of the top tourist spots of the Bernese Oberland. "Quiet Oasis" is a much better description. All those who look for the solitude of the mountains, the roaring of the waterfalls and love the natural fragrance of the forests and meadows, and are not afraid of steep trails will be fully rewarded by profound experiences of pure nature. Within short walking distance, you find ancient forests with transparent streams and crashing waterfalls as well as nearby hiking and cross-country paths. Kiental offers relaxation at any time of the year and includes several sports possibilities (swimming, tennis, hiking, biking, paragliding, Nordic walking, snow walking, cross-country skiing, skating, sledding and more). In every direction you see the magnificence of nature: glaciers, lakes, deep forests, green grass, wildlife, snow capped mountains and incredible skies. This is the list of various very rewarding excursions in the Kiental valley and around the Lake of Thoune nearby: • Tschingelsee - Wildwasserweg • Öschinensee
